Scott Adams Tries to Build an Eco-Friendly House
A fun and yet, oddly informative opinion piece on building a green home by Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert.
He notes at one point, "I went into the process thinking that green homes were ugly because hippies have bad taste. That turns out to be nothing but a coincidence." This is followed up by an explanation as to the causes of said ugliness – color of the roof, lack of windows, little-to-no grass etc.
This is well worth the read, even if you don't plan to build a green home any time soon.

Andy's Most Useful Knots
I've had this desire at the back of my mind to re-learn a lot of the knots I've forgotten since my days as a Boy Scout. I'm rather embarrassed that I remember so few of them actually. Andy's collection of knots looks like a great place to start digging in.
Bonus: knots look like a fun way to keep my hands busy while watching TV.
