Marty Cagan provides an insightful breakdown and prediction of the impact of AI on Product teams in his article A Vision For Product Teams (not just Product Managers, but Designers and Engineers as well). It resonates with me, especially in light of an important distinction he highlights -- the difference between product discovery and product delivery. In particular, he highlights:
Everything in product has some amount of judgement, and some amount of process, but product discovery is primarily about judgement, and product delivery is much more about process.
and
Most jobs involve some blend of judgement and process, and the process aspects are prime targets for the tools. What remains is the judgement.
Read the piece when you have a couple of minutes, and if you build products for a living, think through which potential path you'd like to take. Personally, I'm excited about the opportunity to focus on discovery and ideation and delegate even more of the delivery to systems.
