That's a great way to sum it up Ryan! There are many points throughout the book where you think he couldn't possibly survive this, even though he obviously did, since he lived to tell the tale!

I'm almost finished reading this book and you are right, it's great! A really easy read while being shocking at the same time!

Ryan, Chris - I definitely recommend you pick up a copy. It doesn't take a history buff to appreciate the story.

Ryan, I'll check that one out, thanks for the recommendation!

Chris, I love history, in large part because as you mentioned, it all relates back to where you are now. Add to that, the fact that so many amazing stories are tucked away in our past.

Very interesting fact about you, Alex. I don't run into many history buffs for whatever reason, but when I do, it intrigues me for some reason. Personally, I'm not, but like they say, those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it. Perhaps I should consider that... :-\
It's good to break away a read stuff that's seemingly unrelated to our careers because you can always find ways to relate it back.
Good stuff.

I might have to check this one out. I remember reading an interview with this author earlier this year (or at least it sounds like it was the same guy). I'd also recommend:
This Voice in My Heart: A Runner's Memoir of Genocide, Faith, and Forgiveness by Gilbert Tuhabonye

Gilbert actually works at RunTex here in town and his is an amazing story. (http://www.runtex.com/flyer01.asp#Two)
