A story on /. mentioned an interesting story regarding reading comprehension, focusing on the fact that we don’t necessarily read all the letters of the word, rather we read the word as a whole, providing us with the remarkable ability to infer a word even when it is grossly misspelled – as long as the first and last letters are accurate. Slashdot links to Uncle Jazzbeau’s Gallimaufrey: c-n y– r–d th-s? as their first source. Though there are many sites covering the “story”.

Who needs a splel chceker?

Intriguing to say the least.
