The Magnetic Interface Design Toolkit

I must admit the Magnetic Interface Design Toolkit is pretty neat. But not $40 neat.

The idea of having a physical template to play with is great, especially if I don’t have to print out a whole bunch of elements and then take scissors to the printouts. All the better that a whiteboard is used as the backing. I love whiteboards. I want an office with at least one wall covered floor-to-ceiling with a whiteboard.

Found via GUUUI.

  1. I kind of think of the idea like “magnetic poetry”. You have to admit that little pieces of magnet (oh, stamped with a word)aren’t worth 10 or 15 bucks but creativity can be priceless (I feel like a Master Card Comercial!).

  2. Indeed, creativity is priceless. Actually a fun idea would be to gather a whole bunch of people (primarily designers me thinks) to a creative an ‘Interface Party’. Each person should bring one of these toolkits including some custom modules. Each type of module could be thrown in a bag to be drawn randomly and everyone is given an hour to come up with a cool layout. This might work well with teams… If need be people could trade as well.

Bit of a geek-fest, so I don’t think it is something I would be able to do here in Arkansas though. Let me know if anyone does it elsewhere!
