The Queen of England has named Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web as a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. As an information junkie, and a guy who owes his career to Sir Tim, it warms my heart to see his contribution recognized.
Note: Please disregard the BBC’s ignorance when they state that the Web “is still the basis of the net as we know it.” They have apparently forgotten about e-mail, Net radio, much less the other peer-to-peer and syndication programs and projects.

Over a month ago, Amazon made a change to their systems which broke the Wishlist feeds, so I am unable to wrap up and post my Wishlist Code. I was looking forward to finishing it over the New Year holiday, but that looks less and less likely. Well, at least the fine folks at Amazon are working on the problem, and plan to keep us up to date on their Discussion Boards.

I recently came across Dive Into Python, a great resource provided by Mark Pilgrim. As I have heard some promising things about the language, I decided to print out the chapters that he has already written. I must say I am quite impressed with the manual and with the language itself. Mark has done a fine job introducing the language in an accessible way, which makes it all the more intriguing.
Give it a read if you have a chance. It’s free, so you have nothing to lose but a little time and perhaps some toner should you print it out.
A. G. IV is also interested in it, so he picked up a couple O’Reilly books on Python which we are both flipping through as well. It’s good stuff.
